In the recently concluded 2026 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Regional Selection Competition, the TJGHCIS team delivered an outstanding performance, winning the Team Gold Award, with multiple students earning individual honors — adding yet another distinction to our school's proud record!
Our Award-Winning Students
Our 5 contestants approached the competition with composure and confidence. Drawing on solid mathematical foundations and exceptional problem-solving skills under pressure, they rose to the top among fierce competition. Notably, Student Zhang achieved a perfect score, ranking among the top 10 nationally, while Student Li followed closely with an outstanding performance — both receiving Individual Gold Awards.
Competition Overview
This year's IMO Regional Selection attracted over 1,200 outstanding students from more than 200 key secondary schools across the country, making the competition exceptionally intense. The exam covered four major areas: algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. The problems were extremely challenging, placing rigorous demands on contestants' mathematical thinking, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving abilities.
"Mathematics is not just about formulas and calculations — it is a way of thinking. What we aim to cultivate is the ability to observe the world through a mathematical lens and solve problems with mathematical reasoning."
— Head of the Mathematics Teaching and Research Group
Our Training System
These remarkable results would not have been possible without our school's well-established Mathematics Competition Training Program. Our mathematics faculty has designed a systematic training plan tailored for students aspiring to excel in competitions:
- Foundation Strengthening — Competition fundamentals begin upon entry in Year 10, building a strong base in algebra and geometry
- Thematic Breakthrough — Focused training on challenging areas such as number theory and combinatorics
- Mock Competition — Regular in-school mock exams to build real-world competition experience
- Expert Mentoring — One-on-one coaching by national and international mathematics competition experts
- International Exchange — Mathematics exchange programs with leading schools in the UK, Singapore, and beyond
